Yeah, the title is not a typo, I literally never played Final Fantasy VII, which is one of the most talked about and hyped up games of all time, until last week. Yeah, this game had eluded my grasp for 18 years and now, only now, I got around to playing it, and in my opinion, it's a good game. Not as great as the Mass Effect Trilogy, but still a solid RPG. Before this, the only Final Fantasy game I played was 10, and to be honest, I genuinely didn't like 10. The story was boring, the battle system and its "Sphere Grid" system was too confusing for me to figure out, Tidus was an annoying douche, and (while this is a little nitpicky to be honest) I hated the Blitzball mini-game. However, the music was good and the graphics, while aged, were pretty good for an early-PS2 game, especially with some of the FMVs. Despite the game looking and sounding good, I just couldn't bring myself to push through with Final Fantasy X, and while I may regain interest to finish that game in the future, I don't think it will be anytime soon.

Thankfully, Final Fantasy VII was a much better experience that X, and I think I may like this game. Granted, this is a really old game, and some aspects of the game, like the character models, the pre-rendered backgrounds, and the FMVs haven't aged well, but despite that, this game is pretty good. While I don't think it's anywhere near as great as the other RPG series I played, such as Mass Effect, FF VII is still a classic. The characters are good, the soundtrack is alright (probably the one point where I think FF X did better, besides better graphics), the story is actually more interesting than 10, the battle system is more simplified (I think I might prefer "Active Time Battle" with these games more than the "Conditional Turn Battle" that was in 10), and overall, the game is still good. Granted, I'm nowhere near finished with this game yet (hell, I'm still not even halfway done with Disc 1), but since I liked what I played of FF VII so far, I might want to continue playing. I'll probably play more of this game tomorrow after I get home from work, since I have to relax somehow. Anyway, see you guys later.
Finally got around to playing this classic PS1 RPG from Squaresoft, and while I don't think it's "the greatest thing since sliced bread," and it hasn't aged well visually, I still think that this is a solid RPG.
